I'd been wanting a full size wand for ages, so when an email with a code for 25% off arrived it seemed a good time to get it. :)

It arrived, as do all Lovehoney purchases, in a completely plain brown box. On opening this box the wand itself is housed in a pink/white Lovehoney box and sits in a clear plastic tray. A small leaflet is enclosed with instructions for use and care of the wand. I yanked this out of the packaging and disappeared upstairs at top speed - I'd heard so much about wands and couldn't wait to try this out! It has a generous length of cable, and as we do have a socket next to the bed this reaches all over the bed without straining the lead.

Positioned myself, applied lube to both me and the wand and held it against me. Turned it on (just a very easy to use control wheel does everything) and got the shock of my life! Even on the lowest setting this is mind-blowing! Lovely deep rumbly vibrations, not that irritating buzzy feeling that you get with some vibes. It's quite large, with the 7.5-inch circumference head hitting every spot, but easy to hold in the hand and still control. You plug this baby in, scroll the wheel, lube up, and find your perfect speed. There is no wrong way with this, it's so tremendously easy! The cord might be a bit short if you don't have a socket by your bed or wherever you're using this but this is always fixed with an extension cable.

It's a very smooth, ergonomic wand. The grip is a slightly textured so there's no need to worry about it slipping out of your hand. The scroll wheel is notched, so again no need to worry about lubed fingers slipping! There's a flexible neck to adjust pressure but I'm not a huge fan of intense pressure so I just rely on the head. The head has a wide, smooth top and a series of grooves for fun and variety.

However, these grooves are a pain to clean. I've used the end of a spoon, tweezers, but as I'm writing this review my OH is telling me a stiff toothbrush would probably do the trick. It's also a bit awkward to wash as it isn't waterproof and you have to be careful with it as you don't want to break your best friend.

It's also extremely noisy! If you live in shared accommodation and prefer to keep your masturbation habits to yourself, you'll only get good use out of this when you're home alone. The noise can very be off-putting for the faint-hearted.

But this is all worth it as this will give you deep, rumbling orgasms over and over and over again. The vibrations are deep, broad and rumbly. They barely resonate in the body of the wand, which means that it is pleasant to hold – none of those hand-numbing sensations. The head is firm which allows for targeted pressure, and the neck is flexible which helps out in situations where there is simultaneous penetration. We find it a bit awkward to use the wand with another toy or hand or penis, but at least the flexible neck makes it possible. The wand itself is easy to hold with the body tapering towards the end. I can often place it just right and have my thumb hover over the wheel to easily change intensities. This is essential for me. Cleaning: Cleaning kind of sucks. The wand is not waterproof at all. You have to take a wet cloth and sex toy cleaner and use them to clean the head of the wand. It becomes annoying because the 5 indents make it hard to clean. I’m super worried about damaging my wand so I just find it inconvenient to clean. Don’t get me wrong, though, it is totally and completely worth it.

Penises: Wands can absolutely be used with penises, especially on the frenulum! My partner thinks it is too intense to have direct contact, so we make sure there is a layer of underwear between the two. Wand attachments are a great idea!

Conclusion:

Seriously, we love the Lovehoney Deluxe Massage Wand Vibrator. If you have a wall plug near your sex zone, then we highly recommend this wand, regardless of relationship status or gender. We can’t recommend it enough.

My wife and I are already very familiar with the Doxy mains-powered wand, which to the best of our knowledge is generally accepted by the community as the benchmark of wands. So, please allow us to structure our review as a comparison to the Doxy and why you might want to select the Lovehoney Deluxe Magic Wand over the Doxy.

Please note that we already have a lot of the attachments for wands, and that our 'use' of the wand is with and without various attachments. A wand with varying attachments is such a great value way to give yourself or your partner many different types of pleasures without having to pay for lots of batteries, or lots of chargers, or lots of motors in each different vibrator. Of course, there's nothing quite like using a vibrator in public or 'on the go', whereas you obviously are limited to at home use with a mains powered wand. So our review is strictly limited to the functionality of a vibrator wand for home use.

The LH wand has the following advantages compared to the Doxy:

Considerably cheaper than the Doxy!

Lighter and smaller than the Doxy

Power cord does not have a transformer on the wall plug like the Doxy does, so it can be easier to use in a powerboard that already has lots of things plugged into it. Having noted this, the Doxy's plug is relatively slimline for a wall socket transformer anyway, so this is not really such a big advantage.

The flexible head allows it to be used more easily for massaging of the muscle relief variety.

The flexible head allows it to be held more easily in those awkward positions, such as when I want to use it on myself solo with the anal prostate attachment.

The speed adjustment wheel allows for a more intimate use, in a convenient and balanced location on the wand, using your thumb where you would naturally hold it. The Doxy is a bit awkward to hold and use the speed adjustment buttons, as they're not located in a naturally balanced part of the wand. I really enjoyed using it without any attachment on my wife for clitoral stimulation, which when turned up to maximum speed was by far powerful enough to give her an internal orgasm as well as a clitoral orgasm, at the same time, without insertion of any attachment. I also enjoyed using it on myself with the anal prostate attachment, and came very quickly by turning the speed wheel up and down, providing pulsation type waves of pleasure. You can't do this with the Doxy due to the several fixed speeds that it can be set to.

It *can* be quieter, but only on the lower speed. (Note: read the noise disadvantages below too.)

The LH wand has the following disadvantages compared to the Doxy:

Power cord is about 30cm shorter than the Doxy, but if this is a problem then you can just leave a power extension cord plugged in under your bed for easy access. (Note: we have a power extension lead strapped under our bed with the end of it dangling from the end of our bed - for convenience and quick access during those intimate moments!)

It isn't as powerful as the Doxy for muscle massaging. In terms of muscle relief massage, I've done several nights of blind trials on my wife and have come to this conclusion. The highest speed setting of the LH wand provides massage output of about equal to the lowest speed setting of the Doxy. Note that this comment is very much specific to massage in terms of muscle relief, because the LH wand does have high speeds of vibration like the Doxy, but it just doesn't physically move as much as the Doxy. For example the LH wand might vibrate from side to side (or circularly?) with about 2 mm, whereas the Doxy vibrates more like about 5 or more mm, and is a lot heavier, so the Doxy packs a lot of muscle massage 'ooomph' or physical force. The Doxy is by far a superior wand for muscle relief type of massage.

Whilst the LH wand is whisper quiet on its lowest speed setting, the highest speed setting provides a lot of noise which you'd have a hard time disguising or muffling in a shared house environment. The amount of noise created is also dependent on if/how force is applied to the wand and creating flex on the tip. The lowest and whisper quiet speed setting of the Doxy provides just as much oomph as the highest speed setting of the LH wand, which is relatively noisy.

Overall, we'd recommend the LH wand over the Doxy for the ability to control the speed with the wheel and the convenience of use being lighter and more ergonomic. Despite being less powerful than the Doxy, I find the waves of pleasure you can receive by jogging the wheel up and down makes me orgasm in seconds, compared to yelling and begging my wife to turn the Doxy up to a higher setting when she assures me it's already at it's highest setting.

But if it is purely for muscle massaging, then pick the Doxy.

When reading the reviews, I thought people would of been going over the top with their comments, but they seriously were not.

When I told my wife I had ordered this she was worried soon as she saw the picture and was more worried when she saw it due the size as it is very big, but once we started using it she was blown out of this world.

Some reviews say they or their partners couldn't take full power. My wife said it wasn't too great on low, but on max it was amazing. Her comment to me when we had finished was "OMG, I tingle like mad now and it's not just before, it's my whole body".

As it is Lovehoney’s own brand, the packaging is sleek and simple: a white and purple box with a product description and the LH logo. The wand itself is quite a thing to behold. It’s a well-made sturdy bit of kit, and the power cord is long enough to reach a reasonable distance.

Turning it on is easy, just plug it in and use the wheel to rev up the power to your desired level. And boy does it go high! Seriously, I’ve heard and read a lot about the power of these things, but nothing prepared me for feeling it!

Before using this I would have said I like powerful vibrators, but I can’t use this at full pelt, it’s far too intense! But at lower speeds, the wide head delivers lovely rumbling vibrations that you can feel through to your bones. It really is incredible.

However it didn't wake 2 sleeping children, so maybe it's not ALL that bad! The scroll wheel can sometimes be knocked by accident, making you a bit frustrated when you're close to coming. Because of the size...it can sometimes get in the way during certain positions. It's quite weighty, and both me and my bf found our arms began to ache when using it for a while. It heats up quite a lot if you use it for a long period often.

All in all... I'm a very proud owner of one of the best multi-purpose toys ever!
