    1. Luxuriously silky

Reviewed: 24 April 2016 by BarginHunta, a Straight Married Male

When the package arrived through the post it was in a now familiar discreet plain cardboard box.

Opening the box revealed the contents wrapped in a tasteful cocoa coloured tissue paper, sealed with a "Coco de Mer" sticky label 'seal'. It’s the little touches, but this simple gesture just starts the feeling of quality.

The lubricant itself comes packaged in a dark brown cardboard box with gold lettering and detailing on it. Even the cardboard of this package feels luxurious, almost soft to the touch.

The bottle is a translucent brown glass bottle, and this particular one is decorated with flowers and a bird, almost Chinese in style. It is discreet and elegant enough that it would not look out of place on a bedside table, and no one is likely to give it a second glance.

To dispense the lubricant, the bottle has a pump style top which can be covered with a lid that fits over the whole pump mechanism when not needed. Although the pump has more of a nozzle than a spout, it is very easy to hold the bottle in your hand and press the pump with a finger of the same hand, so not hands-free, but certainly possible to use just one-handed.

The lubricant itself is more of a thick cream than a liquid, and a little seems to go quite a long way. It has a pleasant scent whilst not be overpowering.

Overall, a nice lubricant and luxuriously packaged. For the amount of lubricant that you get I would class this as an expensive option, but it is a luxury item and if you are wanting something that looks and feels lavish, or are giving it as a gift (if you have someone that you'd gift expensive lubricant to!) then this will certainly fit the bill.

The feeling of luxury; from the packaging to the lubricant itself.
      Bottom line
      Expensive, but beautiful and luxurious.

    1. Luxurious presentation, ordinary product

Reviewed: 1 April 2016 by Skitty, a Bisexual Going Steady Female

I was very happy to receive this item to test and review - thank you, Lovehoney!

When I volunteered to test this water-based lubricant, I didn't realise that it would be Coco De Mer. My first impression when receiving it was just "wow." Luxurious doesn't even begin to cover the presentation; it's seriously spectacular. If you're looking for something utterly gorgeous and decadent in its presentation, you couldn't find a better choice.

The product packaging is a velvety soft black cardboard box with gold embellishments on the inside, all wrapped in clear cellophane. It's exactly what you'd expect from an expensive perfume. The bottle is beautifully patterned, and has a lid to protect the pump nozzle. The fact that it's a pump bottle means that you avoid any leaks or spillages, but the extra lid is a reassuring second defense.

The nozzle is thin enough that you have major control over how much of the product you dispense, which is very useful, especially considering how luxuriously precious the liquid inside is.

When it's first dispensed, the lubricant is white in colour and a thick consistency. It's not watery at all, so you don't need to worry about it running anywhere, which I love. As you apply it, it turns clear and spreads really well.

In my search for the perfect lube, I've come to realise that smell is really important to me, so the first thing I did was test its scent. I really wanted it to smell gorgeous because everything about it is so in-keeping with an expensive perfume, but I'm not really a fan.

It unfortunately reminds me a lot of the smell of the old (now discontinued) Lovehoney Delight Silk lubricant which I have a particular dislike of. A quick check of the ingredients on both products confirmed that they have extremely similar ingredients, which I guess accounts for their similarities in colour, consistency, and, unfortunately, smell. The smell really bothers me, but a lot of other reviewers of the old Lovehoney Delight Silk lubricant didn't comment on that lube's smell, so I wonder whether perhaps other people won't be as sensitive to the Coco de Mer Pearl Blossom lubricant smell either.

I expected, because of its noticeable smell, it would also have a strong taste, but it doesn't really taste of much.

When first applying this lubricant, I get a very warm feeling when it touches the skin of my intimate areas. It's a pleasant feeling which gives a bit of extra sensitivity in the beginning. Although the effects do wear off quickly, so it doesn't have the sort of intensity of an orgasm balm.

I really can't fault this product in how it feels and how well it lasts during a session as it really does enhance play very well and doesn't dry out quickly at all. I'd be completely smitten with it if it weren't for the smell, but as it is I quite like using it for sex so long as no oral is involved after applying the lube. But honestly I'm not keen on using it on toys. I tried it with a couple and it works a treat in terms of sensation, but I hate the idea of contaminating any of my favourites with the smell in case it's hard to fully remove by cleaning.

I feel like such a spoilsport for saying this, but, in the interests of an honest review, I think I have to say plainly that this lube is okay but I think the main thing you're buying is the pretty bottle. I was wowed by the presentation, but the product inside isn't particularly special. It does a good job, but I personally can't get past the smell or the fact that it's so remarkably similar to the old Lovehoney Delight Silk lubricant, which has to be the furthest from luxury I can imagine.

It works well, feels good, and is presented wonderfully. Aside from the smell, it's a great product and I'm sure that other people may not be as offended by the scent as I am.

      8 out of 10 stars
Beautiful packaging, pump bottle, thick consistency, lasts well, feels good.
Smells bad, very similar to a cheap lubricant that I dislike.
      Bottom line
Great packaging but the product inside doesn't live up to the hype.

    1. Luxury lubricant, impressive presentation, but poor performance

Reviewed: 27 April 2016 by cg22, a Straight Married Male

We were lucky enough to be picked to test this item as a secret tester. Some of you may read the review we did the for Coco de Mer Radiant Bloom Anal Lubricant 100ml, so apologies for any duplicates.

As per the anal lube we tested, the presentation of this product is brilliant. It arrives in a box that would be better suited to a perfume bottle. The box has Coco de Mer branding and that great statement telling you to "Enjoy Irresponsibly".

The bottle is made from glass with a lid that you take off to reveal a pump-action system to get the lube out. We prefer pump-action as they are just easier than squeezing a bottle and more often than not you then get too much lube.

Again, the bottle has a lovely design on it of a female and a bird, and this is done really nicely. And on the box it has a little circle that has been cut out to review the naked female image as a tease.

So, to the lubricant. With it being a silk lube, it is white in colour. Does not have a particular strong smell about it, but the taste is rather strong should you come into contact with it when play time arises.

One comment my wife did make is that when she applied some to her fingers to try it and picked up the bottle, as the bottle is glass it could be easily dropped when you have lube on your hands.

We tried the lube initially with my wife using her hands on me and she did find she needed to keep on re-applying the lube more often than other lubes as it was drying out when she was playing with me, which became a little annoying, so she actually swapped to a water-based lube from Lovehoney which was a lot better.

We then tried the lube with a dildo on her and it did work a lot better than when we tried it for my wife using her hands to pleasure me. She said it did feel nice and smooth and not too wet on her, if that makes sense... which I am sure it does to some of you females.

So overall, brilliant presentation, great packaging. However we would not pay £24.99 for a bottle of this lube as we feel there a better cheaper alternative silk lubes available.

Not the best silk lube we have tried.
      Bottom line
Great packaging, but does not deliver.
