    1. Probably wouldn't have fitted Boticelli's Venus

Reviewed: 8 August 2011 by cheer_up, a Straight Single Female

      -First Things First-

I am 5'10"/5'11" tall (178cm), very curvy 12/14 (read: bloody massive hips and bum) with sizeable breasts (about a DD/E). For this reason I regularly argue with lingerie as to whether it's going to fit me. I thought that since the size range on this piece placed me nicely within its limits I'd be all right.

      -Packaging-

The package arrived swiftly in a nondescript brown envelope. The box is quite classy, which I expected from what I've heard of Seven 'Til Midnight. It's just black on the two big faces with a picture of the model shown above and pink with black polka-dots on the sides. There are no plastic bags or anything, the teddy is just plonked in the box. I approve.

      -The Teddy-

The pictures of this item do not do it justice. It is very soft nylon, with the front decorated with a very delicate paisley design and the back just made of a mesh. The ruffles that decorate the under-bust seam are made of the same mesh, as is the tiny single-ruffle trim that goes along the v-neck, around the back and around the thighs.

The teddy is a halter neck, which is tied with two silky ribbons. The gusset fastens with a bra clasp-style dual hook and eye fastening. The suspender straps are removable and hook onto tiny loops hidden underneath the trim on the thighs. They're made of the same material as the ribbons.

      -Pros-

This teddy is absolutely beautiful. The quality is superb and despite being paranoid that my thumb was going to go straight through the lace because it looks so delicate it's a surprisingly hardy item.

The gusset fastening is very easy to do up (and undo again), mainly because there's so much stretch in the teddy's material. When I first got it out of the box there was a moment of "PFFFFT!" because I didn't think it would go around my ankle, but it does stretch. However, more on that later.

The lace flashes flesh yet keeps you covered. If you want to show off your body but retain a sexy air of mystery then you definitely want to consider this item. The pattern is also very flattering. The paisley pattern combined with the material has a kind of sculpting effect, clinging to your alluring feminine wiles and politely ignoring the bits you're not so proud of.

It's also a very cool item to wear. Not in the sense that it goes partying every weekend while you sit at home sick with worry and wishing it would call to say it was safe, but as in it lets your skin breathe. I have chronic eczema so anything that doesn't let the air to my skin when things are, ahem, getting hot is a massive no-no. That wasn't a problem at all with this. And I could sleep soundly knowing exactly where it was.

      -The Cons-

There had to be some. Firstly: sizing. The page for this says it will fit sizes 8-16. I am somewhat sceptical of this. I'd say it would fit a size 8, but not very snugly, and I had to do some major wriggling to get into it, so that kind of rules out the size 16s. I'm a size 12 on top and fluctuate between a 12 and a 14 on the bottom. When I first tried this on, I was recovering from illness, and was a comfortable 12. Now I've regained the weight I lost (joy...) the teddy really was more difficult to get into.

I also don't think they expected tall people to wear this. In the picture the V-neck swoops gracefully down to a point parallel to the bottom of the model's breasts. My V swooped gracefully down... And down... And down to a point about an inch and a half below mine. It didn't look BAD, but it certainly didn't look as good as it did on the model. Curse her.

However, they evidently DID expect tall people to wear the suspender straps because they are possibly the longest things I have ever seen in my life. When I shortened them as far as they could go they were still far too long. In the end I had to fold over the tops of my stockings to attach them because otherwise I had bits of ribbon flapping about everywhere.

Something that's not really a con but needs attention drawn to it is that this item offers no support in the booby department. Fair enough, I'm not expecting anyone to wear this to go jogging, but if you are blessed in the chest it's something to bear in mind.

      -The OH's Opinion-

He really liked the item but thought there was too much material over my bum. He would have preferred it if it had been a kind of French knickers-style. However, I really liked the way it covered my entire bum because it had a 'lifting' effect.

He LOVED the gusset being undoable because it meant I could keep the item on during sex. He asked me how on Earth he was meant to get that thing off and was delighted when he discovered he didn't have to. Lazy.

      -Overall-

I genuinely love it. I know it seems odd because to me the Cons I have listed are fairly major ones. But the Pros really do outweigh them. This is a lovely item and once I've shed a couple of pounds it will look lovely on. According to my OH it did anyway.

In actual fact, I would go so far as to say that once I feel truly comfortable in it I would wear this item out with jeans over the top (and a bra on, obviously). It's just too pretty not to share.

However, I would not recommend it to anyone over a size 14, and maybe not anyone under a size 10. I think 8 - 16 is far too large a size range to suit everyone. However, I realise that everyone has a different body shape. So, my ultimate recommendation:

Buy it. If it doesn't fit, that sucks but Lovehoney has a great returns policy. And if it does fit you will in no way regret your purchase.

      Buy it now. Do it.

    2. Overall Rating:
      9 out of 10 stars
      Pros
Insanely pretty; very flattering; comfortable; well made; easy to do up the gusset.
      Cons
Inaccurate size range; no support for breasts; suspender straps were far, far too long.
      Bottom line
A very pretty teddy, even if the suspenders are a mile long.

    1. Disappointing

Reviewed: 21 July 2013 by Orally Gifted, a Straight Single Female

I was chosen to review this product for LH and having been previously happy with Seven Til Midnight purchases, I was excited. However I was entirely dissatisfied when trying it on - as a size 14 with 41" hips, this One Size (8-16) teddy would not go past my thighs! The material was stiff and did not stretch, and I felt it necessary to heave it up my body, so for that reason I just put it back in the packaging.

Shame really, as the material felt like good quality but as I couldn't get it against my skin, I can't honestly comment on it! Also the purple colour was not exactly flattering.

I am very disappointed with this product and will be returning it. For the price, it's definitely not worth the money if you're curvy and size 14+.

On the other hand, I reckon anyone who is a UK 6-12 is more in with a chance of it fitting and looking decent - to those who want try, good luck!

    2. Overall Rating:
      1 out of 10 stars
      Pros
The way it looked on the model!
      Cons
      Everything - sizing, material, colour.
      Bottom line
Not worth the money for anyone who is UK 14+.
